Copperheads

Abraham Lincoln is almost universally regarded as the greatest president in American history. The Northern "Copperheads" who consistently blasted his administration for blatantly unconstitutional acts would disagree. Why have these men been ignored by historians and the general public? Were the "Copperheads" outrageous fanatics, quacks without any legal standing, or were they prescient and patriotic Americans concerned about the future of the United States? Once you take this course, you certainly agree with the latter statement. These men deserve our attention.
