Reading Jefferson Davis

Next to John C. Calhoun, no American is more maligned than Jefferson Davis. He was the "traitor" who left the United States Senate to assume the Presidency of the Confederate States of America, a proslavery "ideologue" who consistently pursued Southern interests in the territories, and, more importantly, a liar who manipulated history to make his case. But a careful reading of Davis leads to different conclusions. That is why you need this course. Anyone with an open mind will respect Davis for his honesty, his integrity, and his commitment to the original federal republic. This course will set you on the right path to understanding the real Jefferson Davis.
